Myanmar Elephant Project, Northern Myanmar

As logging is being curtailed in Myanmar, due to overcutting, ex-logging elephants are in danger of being totally abandoned. The government does not have the money to pay for upkeep of both elephants and Mahouts who are being forced to seek employment elsewhere. The elephants will lose health care and proper food, ultimately succumbing to death via conflict with humans or being sold into dreadful slave labor. We have been raising money to support both the ex-logging elephants and their Mahout’s families.
